She is a professional designer maker, internationally renown jeweller, uses 3D printing for her work and has taught at degree level. She is the author of ‘Digital Crafts: Industrial Technologies for Applied Artists and Designer Makers’, published in Oct 2013 by Bloomsbury. On her courses she takes a maximum of 5 people to give maximum attention to hit the ground running with 3D digital modelling for 3D printing!

The workshop that Ann Marie held in July 20012 for Suzanne, Birgit, Hiltje and Masako was amazing, intensive and great fun.

It was intensive and proved that Anarkik 3D Design is a 3D modelling tool for professional use for all levels of expertise, from a base of no previous experience of 3D modelling, or 2D graphics, upwrds.
Within the 3 day course the 4 jewellers used Anarkik 3D Design pretty thoroughly, fitting it to their own aesthetic and style of working: Masako with a more experimental free style way of working, deforming, non-uniform scaling, mirroring, copy and pasting;

Suzanne very measured and thoughtful, exploring the visual aesthetic of forms created with subtraction and in wireform; Birgit with a very practical and determined approach, translating her 2D style, shapes and  proportions perfectly into 3D, and Hiltje’s cautious exploration of working digitally for the first time, and by exploiting 3D haptics (sensory touch from force feedback), and 3D interaction for slicing, rotating and moving, creating fine balanced 3 dimensional constructions.

Masako’s very fluid model in Anarkik 3D Design

The majority of models created on the course are beautiful, delightful, humorous designs, 3D printable and practical. I say majority as first models can be monstrous and very ugly as the novelty and sheer fun of haptics obliterates any sense of control. This comes a tad later with the realisation that this is how we should be working in a virtual 3D environment and 3D modelling.
