As Cloud9 is exceptionally easy and fun to learn and use, you can enjoy being creative almost immediately as there is so little learning curve. Cloud9 was developed specifically for applied artists, makers and the 3D art. It is NOT CAD. Have a look at the videos ‘Creatives Guide to Cloud9 V2.1: section 1′ and see how different and straight forward Cloud9 is for 3D modelling and constructing.

Bundled with Novint’s Falcon haptic device (and branded ‘Chameleon’ by our distributor, A1 Technology), it was a finalist for a Bett 2011 Award. Designs from Cloud9 can easily be made tangible using 3D printing (additive manufacturing) and Computer Aided Machining technologies!

The sense of physical interaction, that the 3D haptic device provides, makes Cloud9 much easier and quicker to pick up by providing a familiar physical connection with the virtual objects being created. As it is impossible to describe the sensation of virtual 3D touch, Cloud9 has to be tried to grasp this concept. Our distributor, A1 Technologies, gives hands-on demonstrations of the ‘Chameleon’ system (Cloud9 plus Falcon haptic device) around the country so if you are interested in having a demonstration please contact them.
The licenced ‘Cameleon’ product can be purchased from A1 Technologies.

The latest version of Cloud9 (2.1) is downloadable from here and is now NOT time limited. You can follow Anarkik3D on twitter or facebook

Here is why Cloud9 is a Bett 2011 finalist and why it is such a great package :

  • Touch and a 3 dimensional space provide a more immersive and engaging experience in which to encourage creativity whether for learning or simply playing.
  • This digital, virtual ‘world’ provides a risk free environment to experiment, explore, develop ideas and build up confidence to work in 3 dimensions.
  • By directly connecting into digital manufacturing technologies, these become accessible, their potential more understandable, especially for those who struggle to grasp such applications as abstracted concepts.
  • Cloud9 is capable of providing this because haptic technology delivers a more coherent and intuitive way for interacting and doing in virtual 3D:

  • Our sense of touch conveys rich and detailed information about objects and their surroundings.
  • When combined with other senses, quality and integrity of information sent to the brain for processing is dramatically increased.
  • This increase in information helps aid learning and reduces both error and time taken to complete a task.
  • With touch, what is learnt in a virtual environment becomes more ‘sticky’.
  • Research shows that both auditory and visual learners benefit greatly from activities that involve the sense of touch, making a haptic device a vital tool in catering for a variety of different learning styles.
