Jerwood Maker Open Awards Exhibition, Edinburgh, Jan/Feb 2012

FArah with Quiver piece

Anarkik3D’s interest in promoting this exhibition is because one of the 4 awardees is Farah Bandookwala and she used our Cloud9 3D modelling software in the design of her 3D printed work. She has 4 large interactive pieces and 3D printed jewellery. The exhibition is well worth a visit as there is work by 3 other artists, exhibited in the Dovecot Studio’s Exhibition Space (interesting in itself being a refurbishment of Edinburgh’s oldest public baths and I remember swimming there!).

The four artists were selected from over 200 entries by Emmanuel Cooper, potter, writer, educator and critic, Siobhan Davies, choreographer and artistic director and Jonathan Watkins, curator, writer and Director of Ikon Gallery. They comment: ‘These makers are united by a deep fascination with their chosen material. From the use of contemporary technologies to ancient processes, they are each pushing the boundaries of craft practice, creating works that are exciting, inventive and at times dangerous.’
