This 2 day Masterclass using Anarkik 3D Design for 3D Modelling for 3D Printing is for applied artists and creative people, focusing on what these two 3D technologies can offer and used to expand ones’ portfolios of work.

It is a perfect upbeat and intensive Masterclass geared to your requirements as Makers, Applied Artists and creative people. If you struggle with standard CAD programmes try a new way of digitally 3D modelling – with haptics, the sense of touch, which will enable you to take advantage of 3D printing opportunities .

A maximum of 10 people ensures you receive focused demonstrations, individual attention and sufficient hands on time using the ‘Anarkik 3D Design’ package and worksheets for you to get into being creative quickly. You can understand the principles of designing for 3D printing and apply this knowledge directly.

Programme: 10:00am to 4:00pm, lunches on both days and Dinner on Day 1 included. 2 presentations: 3D printing by Digits2Widgets, and designing for 3D printing by Ann Marie Shillito

This Masterclass is being held in London 13th and 14th October 2018 at Donna Brennan Studio.

Both days include one hour for lunch, with lunch provided, and Dinner on Saturday evening,  also included. 

Saturday 13th: 10:00am – through to Dinner and drinks!

Introduction: brief overview followed by swift run through in demo mode to show the interface and main menu features including the advantages of using haptics and a ‘3D mouse’.

Hands on session: Using Anarkik 3D Design package

  • Easy Navigation – getting the feel for interacting/creating in a risk free 3D virtual environment.
  • Designing – try out functions, use worksheets, create a 3D model through structured playing and exploring, with individual assistance.

Lunch: (and the opportunity to handle 3D printed models and discuss the mornings progress with the group)

Hands on session: Continue working through the tutorials.

Final session day 1: Designing for 3D printing

  • The principles of 3D printing
  • Creating robust models and methods to keep costs down
  • Saving your files in the right format and scale
  • Acquiring other models to manipulate/customise (imported e.g. Rhino, freebies, paying for models)
  • Where and how to access 3D print services
  • Other likely issues and associated costs

4:00 pm: 2 presentations on 3D Printing by Digits2Widgets and designing for 3D printing by Ann Marie Shillito, followed by Dinner with drinks

Sunday 14th10:00am – 4:00pm

Hands on session: Start work on your own model, robust enough to be 3D printed.

Session 2: Designing for 3D printing.

Lunch.

Hands on session: Continue working through the tutorial.

Session 3: Information about 3D printed models.

  • Materials: plastics, resin, glass, ceramics, metals etc
  • Different 3D printing systems: impact on designing
  • Where and how to access 3D print services
  • Likely issues and associated costs

Session 4: Interactive feedback session: to help you identify the next steps, answer your questions plus give you course material to take away with you. Areas of discussions might cover how to price, market and sell your creations including identifying outlets and audience.

4:00pm: End of 2 Day course 

Post course for those interested: purchasing Anarkik 3D Design (Cloud9 and haptic ‘3D mouse package) – 15% Discount on Cloud9 software.
