Anarkik3D’s fortnightly Wednesday Zoom meet-up for designer makers and applied artists has changed focus. One year on, these will now be by invitation as we move to supporting the people who have either purchased Anarkik3DDesign or are loaning the package on a monthly basis.

To 3D print you need a printable digital model. The issue regarding the wherewithall to access 3D print technology is standard 3D design programmes as these are developed primarily for industrial designers requiring complex functionality to design for mass manufacturing processes. Applied artists, like myself, can’t afford the steep learning curves required to master highly complex prescriptive programmes. The nationwide ‘Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing’* exhibitions mark the 500th anniversary of his death. As part of the Ulster Museum‘s programme of events in Belfast, centred around their exhibition of Leonardo’s Drawings’ the Museum’s Education Officer organised workshops on 25th and 26th April on 3D modelling for 3D printing. Feedback from designer makers and students confirmed that Anarkik3D Design 3D modelling programme is on the right trajectory as it is focused on providing a straightforward interface and selected functionality, both fundamental to enabling many to finally access 3D print technologies.
