Nessie-coat-hook Designed using Anarkik 3D Design, 3D printed on an Ultimaker2. Here is a story about creating a nessie-coat-hook. This came about because BlackCountryAtelier posted a blog about designing a coat hook for 3D printing. Their design instructions for the kids to do in the class was very functional – but boring! So I pretended to be an uninhibited 10 yr old and set about designing a coat hook within one class teaching period, at the most 2. Probable took about 40 minutes, may have been less. It was fun and I have created a visual to ‘scroll down’ with screen captures of the design process and photos of theRead More →

Anarkik3D Design: the anticipated new version now available as well as a series of workshops from Glasgow, Dundalk in Ireland, Cologne and the Netherlands to get you up andrunning and being creative fast. The changes you will love are the enhancements and colour additions to functions such as rotate, Boolean, slice, mirror, torus creation, deform, etc. The interface is uncluttered: you can design, create, experiment, explore and play and go with the ‘flow’ with as little disruption as possible. Boolean is now so fast there is no excuse any more to go and make that cup of tea or coffee!

AnarkikCreations designed and produced ‘thank you’ gifts presented to the speakers, host and organiser. Ann-Maree Morrison, Managing Director and Founder of labels4kids (a multi award winning provider of personalised name labels across the globe) was a speaker at the Celebrating Women in Business event which was part of the activities happening during University of Stirling’s International Women’s Month in March 2015. She was joined by Carol Smillie, TV personality and Diary Doll co-founder, Hinda Miller, co-inventor of the world’s first sports bra, and Rachel Gunn of The Butterscotch Bakery. Celebrating Women in Business:  https://www.stir.ac.uk/news/2015/02/international-women’s-day/ Six pendants were designed using the remarkable Anarkik3D Design haptic 3D modelling software and the models 3DRead More →

Ann Marie Shillito, co-founder/CEO of Anarkik3D Ltd: invited speaker at the 3DPrintShow Summit in Madrid. Ann Marie gave a presentation about the research that went into the development of the Company’s own-Brand product, Anarkik 3D Design which is a haptic 3D modelling software that is very different from the standard CAD packages that are mostly used for 3D printing. She explained the different requirements that designer makers and applied artists have for creating digital 3D work and why Anarkik3D’s touchie feelie approach suits so many of them. The Presentation title was ‘Hola! Touchie Feelie software! It’s Anarkik 3D Design. Get physical with 3D modelling – it’sRead More →

V&A Dundee and the Travelling Gallery Bus: Exhibition ‘Design in Motion’   This wonderful V&A Dundee ‘Design in Motion’ exhibition was launched on 13th Feb 2015 and the bus toured to over 70 places in Scotland. This was a great opportunity to try haptics (virtual touch) as haptics is amazing and makes working in 3D so much easier! Many visitors had a chance to try our haptic (virtual touch) Anarkik 3D Design 3D modelling software as it was included in the exhibition.

Passionate about 3D printing – but can’t do CAD? Here is a link to a SlideShare presentation (http://www.slideshare.net/AnnMarieShillito/) rich in images and information about 3D printing, how to get models and how designer makers and artists are using 3D technologies. The blog is also about a visit to Creative Spark in Dundalk in Ireland to give a 1 day workshop/class on 3D modelling for 3D printing for designers and artists and a drop-in hands-on demo session, a visit to Mcor Technologies to see their impressive colour 3D printers, and a visit to the Fablab in Limerick.

This is the title of the Presentation I gave at the 3DPrintShow 2014 in London in September about other ways that designers are accessing 3D printing! http://www.slideshare.net/AnnMarieShillito/. I gave the presentation again (more slides added) on 31st October at a drop-in demo session at Creative Spark in Dundalk, Ireland. Creative Spark is a great resourse centre with space for small businesses to rent, with workshops, courses and classes for both learning, making and business development – the reason we were there. The previous day we had given a 1 day course on 3D modelling for 3D printing. To 3D print you have to have the right sort ofRead More →
